Shandong Risen Metal is equipped with various standard head-forming dies, including standard elliptical heads (2:1 semi-elliptical) and 10% dished heads (DHB). According to equipment design requirements and operating conditions, selecting the appropriate head shape is beneficial for product quality improvement and cost control.
For atmospheric or low-pressure vessels such as those used in food processing, pharmaceutical, water treatment, and underground storage tank applications, we recommend the use of 10% dished heads manufactured by cold pressing or spinning processes.
① Increased Effective Volume
When the overall length of the vessel is fixed, using a 10% dished head provides a larger internal volume compared with a standard 2:1 elliptical head, improving capacity utilization.
② Flatter Profile, Easier Installation
The surface curvature of a 10% dished head is gentler than that of a 2:1 elliptical head, making it easier to install mounting plates, supports, and other attachments. This improves fabrication and installation efficiency.
③ Better Forming Quality and Appearance
Due to the lower forming deformation required, 10% dished heads, especially those with large diameters and thin walls, achieve better forming quality with a smoother surface and a more attractive overall appearance.
④ Material Savings and Cost Reduction
For heads with the same internal diameter and plate thickness, a 10% dished head requires a smaller blank size than a standard elliptical head, resulting in material savings and reduced manufacturing costs.
